About the Region

 

The Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation came into being with ACT No. 21 of 1990, and its Amendment Act No. 8 of 1992.

The Corporation spans an area of approzimately 71984 hectares, and serves a population of approzimately 148324 persons in an estimated 20000 households.

The geographical boundaries of the Corporation are as follows:

North: From the point on the sea coast at the mouth of the Caparo River, preceding in a generally easterly direction along the South Bank of the Caparo River to its confluence with the Honda River; thencefirst in a generally south-easterly and then easterly to and along the South Bank of the Caparo River to the Point where it is crossed by Caparo Valley-Brasso Road.

East: From the last mentioned point, proceeding southwards along Caparo Valley-Brasso Road to Edinburgh Road and thence first southwards and thence south-eastwards along Edinburgh Road to Bishop Trace; Thence southwards along Bishop Trace to Arena Road; Thence south-eastwards along Arena Road to Freeport-Todds Road; Thence southwards along Freeport-Todds Road to Los Jabos Trace; Thence in a generally southerly direction along Los Jabos Trace to Chickland-Caparo Road to San Francisco Land Settlement Road to Lower Couva Road; Thence southwards along San Francisco Land Settlement Road to Lower Couva Road; Thence south-eastwards along Lower Couva Road to Firasal Road, Then south-westwards along Firasal Road to Couva Road, thence westwards along Couva Road to Mayo Road; Thence westwards along Mayo Road to Indian Trail Road; Thence along Indian Train Road to Kanga Settlement Road; Thence in a generally south-westerly direction along Kanga Settlement Road to Cedar Hill Road; Thence along Cedar Hill Road to the point where it crosses the Solomon Hochoy Highway; Thence south-westwards along the Solomon Hochoy Highway to the point where it crosses the North Bank of the Guaracara River.

South: From the last mentioned point proceeding in a generally western direction along the North Bank of the Guaracara River to the point of its mouth on the Sea Coast.

West: From the last mentioned point proceeding in a generally northerly direction along said sea coast to the point at the mouth of the Caparo River at the point of commencement.
